Over in South Kensington, the home of the Natural History Museum, an extinct form of Afternoon Tea is coming back to life…
The 5* Ampersand Hotel is paying tribute to the life on earth millions of years ago (and a brilliant film series, obv) by creating a brand new Jurassic-themed Afternoon Tea.
After visiting the Tyrannosaurus Tea-rannosaurus Rex at the museum, you might feel a bit peckish, which where this new experience should come in. Launching next week (August 8), the Jurassic-themed tea is timed to perfection, coming not only during Afternoon Tea week, just after Dippy the Dinosaur made his grand return to the museum
Dinosaur lovers can expect a collection of Jurassic treats including- *deep breath* – T-Rex cheese straws; mini hot dogs; Dinosaur jam sandwiches and homemade scones; a volcanic eruption of raspberry and lemon cremeux; dark chocolate and caramel egg nest; mixed berries T-Rex footprint macaron; a mini dinosaur biscuit and milk chocolate fossil; and a white chocolate and blackcurrant Jurassic mountain mousse.
If that wasn’t Jurassic enough for you, there’s even a cocktail called Dino Sour (bravo on that name, bravo) comprised of gin, white wine syrup, lemon juice, passion fruit liqueur, pineapple juice and Angostura bitters; and a T-Rex Mex, made with hibiscus infused tequila, red wine syrup, pineapple juice, lemon juice and basil. Just what the velociraptor ordered. You’ll also find hot chocolate, Champagne, alcohol-free rosé and much more on the drinks menu.
For an experience as vintage as this one, its going to cost you £35 for children and £49.50 for adults. It runs Monday – Sunday between 12pm and 5:30pm in the Ampersand Hotel’s Apero restaurant, and you can find it at 10 Harrington Road, South Kensington, SW7 3ER (nearest station is South Kensington). Book and find out more at their website.
