Over in South Kensington, the home of the Natural History Museum, extinct life-forms are returning to life… in the form of an exquisite Afternoon Tea. And it’s sure to impress dinosaur fans young and old.
The 5* Ampersand Hotel is paying tribute to the creatures that walked the earth millions of years ago (and a brilliant film series, obv) with a brilliant Jurassic-themed Afternoon Tea. Do you think the dinosaurs were fans of tea? Finger sandwiches? I’d imagine the T-Rex likely got frustrated trying to pick them up with its arms…

After visiting the Tyrannosaurus Tea-rannosaurus Rex at the nearby museum, you might feel a bit peckish, so why not combine a bit of tradition with extinction?
The Jurassic afternoon tea menu
Dinosaur lovers can expect a collection of Jurassic treats including- *deep breath* – T-Rex cheese straws; mini hot dogs; Dinosaur jam sandwiches and homemade scones; a volcanic eruption of Mango & lime crémeux; dark chocolate and caramel egg nest; a mini dinosaur biscuit & milk chocolate fossil hidden within chocolate “soil”; and a chocolate dinosaur to cap it all off. Oh, and a dinosaur hot chocolate, of course. And that’s just the kid’s menu!
The adult’s Jurassic afternoon tea adds a whole host of other dishes to the assortment. These include everything from smoked salmon & cream cheese blinis to seasonal quiche, as well as raspberry & peach T-Rex footprint macarons and white chocolate & passion fruit Jurassic mountain mousse. It’s a veritable dinosaur feast – fit for an apex predator!

If that wasn’t Jurassic enough for you, there’s also a Dino Sour cocktail (bravo on that name, bravo) with gin, white wine syrup, lemon juice, passion fruit liqueur, pineapple juice and Angostura bitters. Or you can opt for a T-Rex Mex. This cocktail mixes up with hibiscus-infused tequila, red wine syrup, pineapple juice, lemon juice and basil. Just what the velociraptor ordered.
The dino-mite experience costs £39.50 for children or £59.50 for adults – plus an extra charge if you fancy some bubbles. The Jurassic afternoon tea is available Monday to Sunday from 12-7pm. You’ll find it at 10 Harrington Road, South Kensington, SW7 3ER (nearest station is South Kensington).
