If there’s one retailer that always provides the goods at Christmas time, it’s John Lewis.

Their adverts have us in floods of tears annually and without fail. This year, they’re going the extra mile to get us feeling festive, with the return of their winter rooftop on Oxford Street.

Be wowed as you admire the Americana makeover at one of London’s largest rooftop bars, filled with fairground horses, waltzer panels, and bumper cars to pose in, with brightly coloured smart lights giving the glow for that perfect Insta pic.

Book yourself into one of their cosy, private ‘Carnival Houses’, each of which have undergone magical makeovers to become either the House of Fortune, the House of Mirrors or the House of Lights! They’ll all be filled with atmospheric lighting, music and games to make for some festive fun.

There’ll also be curling stations for a bit of competitive fun, and a claw machine that gives you a chance to win a Google Pixel phone each week.

Once you’re all gamed out, head over to The Carnival Diner to feast on popcorn shrimp, loaded fries, corn dogs or turkey drummers, before indulging in Oreo cheesecake bites and hot toffee apples for dessert.

Pick up a Tipsy Hot Chocolate, Winter’s Chill or Butterscotch Kiss to give you some warmth throughout the winter (or wine or beer, if you prefer).

Those of you who are crazy for caffeine will love the coffee masterclasses in the House of Lights! Groups of six can enjoy evening sessions between 12 November and 17 December.
