With summer showing its face here and there this year, it’s time to take your chances in the hope of some London sunshine with some crafty cocktails, good vibes, and rooftop bars. Luckily for us, an all-new spot opened up on the rooftop of John Lewis’ historic flagship store on Oxford Street earlier this year.
Named in honour of the year John Lewis & Partners was founded, 1864 Rooftop Bar & Kitchen offers an array of decadent cocktails and seasonal small plates, all served up soaring above the high street shoppers on London’s most iconic street.
Boasting panoramic views of the capital, this place has been specifically designed and curated for socialising, featuring a dazzling array of unique quirks and attributes, bound to make this a staple favourite on Oxford Street.
Decked out with private greenhouses, immersive decorations, and gorgeously verde garden vibes, this new rooftop bar and restaurant couldn’t have opened up at a better time, as the days in London get longer and warmer for some much-needed summer fun.
Expect crafty cocktails that take direct inspiration from their very own herb garden, as well as a drool-worthy menu of alluring food options. Visitors can enjoy a mix of snacks, small plates, salads, and desserts, including standout dishes like their Lobster Rolls with pickled cucumber and Marie Rose sauce, as well as the Seaweed Tempura Monkfish, served with a wild garlic emulsion.
This new bar is a collaboration with Benugo, who are renowned for their fantastic hospitality experiences. Founder Ben Warner said: “I am delighted to be collaborating [with John Lewis] once again on an exciting new chapter. We’re thrilled to now be able to offer customers a completely different experience, with the 1864 Rooftop Bar & Kitchen being a place where they can relax, unwind and let their hair down amongst friends on the building’s impressive rooftop.”
1864 Rooftop Bar & Kitchen can be found at John Lewis, 300 Oxford St, London W1C 1DX. The bar is open 12pm until 10pm Monday through Saturday, and 12pm until 9pm on Sundays. Nearest stations are Oxford Circus and Bond Street. Visit their website for more information.
