Londoners soon won’t require an eye-wateringly expensive plane ticket and a long-haul flight in order to experience the sights, sounds, tastes, and traditions of Japan. A trusty Oyster card and a quick trip on the London Overground will suffice, because the UK’s largest celebration of Japanese culture is returning to the capital city next month in the form of HYPER JAPAN.
HYPER JAPAN Festival
Bringing the taste of Toyko straight to the streets of London; HYPER JAPAN will return this summer, bigger and better than before. For one weekend (and one weekend only) this humongous food and culture festival will descend upon Olympia London; filling it to the brim with over 500 artists and exhibitors. The event will showcase the very best of the Land of the Rising Sun across three jam-packed days – and you certainly won’t want to mis(o) it.

Visitors should prepare to stuff their faces with some authentic Japanese delicacies, immerse themselves in a whole host of traditional workshops, and be captivated by an entertainment schedule that’s bursting at the seams. Some of the most popular Japanese artists will be taking to the stage across the three days, including QUEEN BEE, avantgardey, The Sixth Lie, Chiaki Kobayashi, Eir Aoi, and UPIKO.
Over the course of the weekend, an abundance of exciting workshops will be taking place. From Shorinji Kempo to Sumi painting; there will be plenty of activities to get stuck into. There will be anime to admire, manga to marvel at, and even a Japanese fashion show and cosplay masquerade.

Food-wise, festival-goers will be spoilt for choice, with a plethora of stalls serving up some scrumptious Japanese cuisine. We highly recommend you wearing your stretchiest trousers for the event because there will be the mouth-watering likes of onigiri, donburi, bao, mochi, sake, and sushi to tuck into (just to name a few).
So, prepare for your senses to be transported to East Asia, without you having to even leave Zone 2 London. Who needs a big old plane when you’ve got the Mildmay line, hey?
HYPER JAPAN will take place at Olympia London from July 24 to July 26. Find out more, snap up and ticket, and plan you visit here.
