When the aliens in Toy Story spoke those two words in unison, – “THE CLAWWW” – they needn’t have really worried — in real life, no one ever wins at that game. Until now (maybe, we don’t know if it’s easier yet).
For the first time in the UK, a human claw machine that lets you inside the machine rather than relying on those flimsy metal hooks is arriving, and it’s here to dunk you into a pile of snacks and limited edition gold packs with hot prizes.
It’s got a rather grandiose name, too. The PROPER Dropper is setting up shop in Brick Lane on October 28-29 between 11am – 8pm, and, along with offering you sweets or something better (if there is such a thing), is completely free to play.
PROPER snacks is behind the creation, with the arcade game giving you a chance to taste their new PROPERCRISPS, as well as their PROPERCORN and PROPERCHIPS. Plus, those lucky enough to get their hands on a gold pack will be treated to prizes from a wall including goodies from brands such as Nicce, Fila, By Rotation, Sonos and many more. As any claw machine player will know, the best prizes are always the hardest to get your hands on, but those snacks are sure to quell any disappointment on failing the quest for gold!
Your whizz around in the arcade game could then be followed with another game. Should you come out with a gold pack, a round of spin-the-wheel will follow to determine what prize you’ll take home, and a fleet of aliens following you around forever saying “You have saved our lives, we are eternally grateful”. Might have made up that last part.
Anyone who wishes to take on the challenge and get dunked in sweets should head down to Elys Yard on October 28-29. Godspeed to any brave human claw – sorry, PROPER Dropper – players… I’m sure you’ll fare better than in the standard machines we’re all used to.
Find the PROPER Dropper at Elys Yard, 91 Brick Lane, Shoreditch, E16QL on October 28-29. It’s free to play, runs on a first-come-first-served basis, and players must be 18+.
(On a side note, London is on a bit of a hot streak with this dunk machine hitting the Thames earlier this year… what wacky machine have we got in store next? Stay tuned to find out)
