For commuting to a home-away-from home city getaway in London, getting to Hotel Saint in Aldgate might have one of the smoothest journeys I’ve have ever had. Hotel Saint London is nestled in the heart of the city’s historic financial district, offering a blend of modern luxury in East London.
Located at 9 Aldgate High Street, this 14-floor establishment boasts 272 rooms and suites, providing guests with contemporary comfort and unparalleled access to London’s vibrant attractions. One of Hotel Saint’s standout features is most definitely its prime location. Situated adjacent to the Aldgate Underground Station, guests have seamless connectivity to London’s extensive tube network. Not to forget its convenience with major landmarks such as Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, and the bustling Spitalfields Market in nearby walking distance.
The Skin Co Spa in Spitalfields – The Ultimate Pampering Session
We visited The Skin Co Spa in Spitalfields, just a short walk from the hotel after checking in. This spa offers an extensive treatment menu, and we opted for a luxury revitalising facial.
The facial at The Skin Co Spa was tailored to our skin type, with a combination of deep cleansing, hydration, and firming techniques that left our skin feeling incredibly soft and rejuvenated. It felt incredibly lovely to be represented by someone who had my skin type too. With a short aromatherapy massage that followed, it definitely set us up for a very relaxing time using a mix of warm essential oils and targeted pressure to melt away stress and tension.
I want to give a special shout out to the two wonderful ladies who take care of my partner and I, they made us feel so welcome and so comfortable – giving us so much insight into skincare and recommendations for our skin. They made the visit truly special and I can’t recommend them enough.
The room
We stayed in the Botolph Junior Suite, which was an absolute delight. This spacious suite offers stunning views over East London’s skyline, creating a perfect blend of comfort and style. The plush king-sized bed, separate seating area, and floor-to-ceiling windows made for a truly luxurious experience. The modern bathroom, complete with a walk-in rainfall shower and premium toiletries, added an extra touch of indulgence.
The food
During our stay at Hotel Saint, we had the pleasure of dining at The Cardinal Bar & Kitchen, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant strikes the perfect balance between elegance and comfort, with a warm ambiance, stylish interiors, and an inviting atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and get stuck in.
To start, we ordered the Burrata and Tuna Tartare, and both dishes set the tone for what would be an exceptional dining experience.
The burrata arrived beautifully plated, its creamy centre oozing out the moment we cut into it. Paired with juicy heirloom tomatoes and a drizzle of fragrant basil oil, every bite was a perfect balance of rich, milky indulgence and fresh, zesty brightness.
If the burrata was comforting and creamy, the tuna tartare was refreshing and refined. The tuna was delicately diced, its freshness shining through with every bite. Mixed with just the right amount of seasoning, a hint of citrus, and creamy avocado, it had that perfect melt-in-your-mouth quality. Served with crisp, golden crostini, it was a dish that was as light as it was flavourful—the kind you finish and instantly wish you had more of.
For our mains, we opted for the Pork Chop and the Steak, both of which were executed beautifully.
This was a showstopper. The pork chop was thick, juicy, and cooked to perfection, with a slightly charred, caramelised crust that locked in all the moisture. The addition of a rich apple compote added the perfect amount of sweetness to balance the savoury depth of the meat. Served alongside roasted root vegetables, which were earthy and caramelised to perfection, this dish was hearty, comforting, and packed with autumnal flavours.
My partner opted for the grilled sirloin steak, cooked medium-rare, and it arrived perfectly seared, blushing pink in the centre, and glistening with juices. The first bite was buttery, tender, and packed with bold, beefy flavour. The miso butter drizzle was an unexpected but brilliant touch, adding a subtle umami depth that made the dish stand out. The accompanying crispy fries were golden and impossibly crunchy on the outside yet fluffy inside, making for the ultimate indulgence.
For dessert, we indulged in the Sticky Toffee Pudding, and it was the perfect end to a fantastic meal. The pudding was warm and soft, drenched in a rich, caramel toffee sauce that was indulgently sweet without being overwhelming. Paired with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream, it was comforting, decadent, and utterly satisfying leaving us in a massive food coma and ready for bed.
Our stay at Hotel Saint London was truly memorable. The hotel effortlessly blends modern luxury with a welcoming, home-away-from-home atmosphere. From the Botolph Junior Suite, which provided a perfect retreat, to the exceptional dining experience at The Cardinal Bar & Kitchen and the rejuvenating spa treatment, we left feeling fed, relaxed and pampered.
