Get in, Londoners – we’re going time-travelling. Where are we headed? Well, I’m glad you asked. We’re diving head-first back in to the decade of gloriously gaudy Christmas decorations, big old slabs of Viennetta, and George Michael belting out ‘Last Christmas’ on repeat. That’s right, folks: we’re heading back to the 1980s.
Okay, unfortunately there’s not actually space in the time machine for all of us. But for two nights only, up to four fortunate folk will have the chance to relive the magic of Christmases gone by, courtesy of Booking.com. They’ll be opening the doors to their ‘Home of Christmas Past‘ later this month, offering a one-off stay at a London gaff that’s been decked out so festively, it could give Whoville a run for its money.
The ‘Home of Christmas Past’
With a whole lot of people feeling nostalgic for the 1980s (and just a tad fed up with the 2020s), there seemed like no better time to create the closest thing possible to a time portal back to the past. The halls of the retro Clapham pad have been well-and-truly decked. Think foil ceiling decorations, coloured lights, a huge Christmas tree, and more tinsel than you can shake a stick at. The home also boasts a chunky retro TV (complete with a hefty stack of VHS’s), a children’s bedroom filled with all the vintage toys you could possibly dream of, and a welcome hamper, packed full of 1980s festive treats. They’ve gone for the more-is-more approach, to say the least.
Now, I’ve got some good news, and I’ve got some bad news. The good news is that up to four people can stay for two nights for just £19.80 (?!). The bad news is that the house is available for two nights only, and the lucky group that get to stay there is decided on a first come first serve basis. It may be worth me adding that the stay also includes a tour of London’s Christmas lights, ice-skating, afternoon tea, and a trip to the top of the Shard. So, if you have plans at 10am on December 10; I would highly recommend rearranging them.
The one-off stay at The Home of Christmas Past will become available to book on a first come first serve basis at 10am on Tuesday, December 10 via Booking.com. The stay will be available for up to four guests, checking-in for two nights from December 13 – December 15, and will cost just £19.80.
