Listen up, Londoners. This weekend (January 24 and 25), the entirety of the Hammersmith & City Line will be closed due to planned track closures. The Hammersmith & City Line runs from 0 you guessed it – Hammersmith in West London all the way to Barking in East London (*cough* Essex *cough*), and is made rather good use of, with over 141 million annual passenger journeys made upon it.
Why is the Hammersmith & City Line closed this weekend?
This weekend’s Hammersmith & City Line closure has been in the pipeline for a while, and has been displayed on TfL’s ‘planned track closures 6-month look ahead’ document. The planed track closures are usually due to maintenance work or upgrades on the line.

How to get around London without the Hammersmith & City Line
Transport for London usually provide a replacement bus service when lines are fully closed. From Hammersmith to Moorgate, the Circle Line serves the exact same route as the Hammersmith & City Line, so passengers can hop on the yellow line instead. For travel between Moorgate and Barking, passengers can hop off the Circle Line at change to the District Line at Aldgate/Aldgate East (or further along the Circle Line if needs be), which then follows the same route as the Hammersmith & City Line all the way to Barking.
