London’s cultural calendar is bursting at the seams with exciting things to see and do this summer. But if you are in need of a gentle nudge in the direction of one of the city’s most sensational celebrations of culture and creativity, please allow me to point you in the direction of Hackney Art Week.
This free-to-visit (and female-founded) art festival has just descended upon – you guessed it, folks – Hackney; filling each and every nook and cranny of the borough with interesting, innovative, imaginative, and down-right impressive works of art.

Hackney Art Week
Having first landed in London last year courtesy of a group of local artists and creatives, Hackney Art Week has returned to the capital city for its second year. And over the next 10 days, the festival will span 60 venues across Hackney, showcasing the work of over 130 artists.
From sculptures and ceramics to projections and performances; there’s set to be something awe-inspiring at every turn. And the event will see various everyday spaces transformed into mini art galleries for the occasion.
Venues across the likes of Dalston, Clapton, London Fields, De Beauvoir, Stoke Newington, Haggerston, and Hackney Wick will be opening their doors – with studios, shops, cafes, and even pubs getting involved in the artistic happenings. There’s even set to be markets, live music performances, and a borough-wide ‘treasure hunt’ – with artwork hiding in some unexpected places.
Hackney Art Week will be running from June 4 until June 14. You can explore the online map and find out more about the programme and the full list of artists and venues taking part here.
