Genesis, the newest vegan restaurant in London, serves up a completely plant-based, GMO-free and organic menu.

The new restaurant, now open on Commercial Street in Shoreditch, is the brainchild of brothers Alex and Oliver Santoro who, ironically, come from a family who have worked in the meat industry for over one hundred years. However, for this new venture, they’ve taken inspiration and influence from street food they’ve enjoyed all over the world and combined it with their mutual love of brilliant food and healthy, environmentally conscious living. The aim is to appeal to vegans and meat-eaters alike, whilst also supporting organic farming practices that promote a positive impact on our health and the planet’s ecosystems. The food is hearty, healthy and there’s more choice for vegans than ever before. You can expect to see sharing plates, salads, tacos, burgers and hot dogs, all made using organic fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds.

Inspired by the brothers’ travels through India, South East Asia, the Middle East and beyond, the sharing plates include: Indian street food snack Aloo Tikka Chaat; Shawarma with Israeli salad, chilli, pickles, garlic sauce, tahini dressing and sumac; a Thai Papaya & Mango Salad; a spicy, rich Laksa Soup; an indulgent Mac & Cheese; and a range of tacos with fillings such as fried avocado, beans and pico de gallo, or jackfruit, hoisin, cucumber and spring onion.

Not forgetting the burgers and the hot dogs! They’re made using natural ingredients, and are served inside vegan, organic brioche buns. For example, the American Woman is filled with creamy coleslaw, BBQ sauce, onion rings, jalapeños, and gherkins. The hot dogs, on the other hand, are inspired by different places around the world, including the Bánh Mì Dog; Bombay Dog and New York Dog.

The dessert menu has everything from Brownie Sundaes and Cheesecake, to Bread & Butter Pudding and dairy-free Soft Serve Ice Cream with crazy toppings. Drinks are also vegan and organic, of course, and the menu includes freshly-pressed juices, milkshakes, coffees and Kombucha, as well as a range of organic beers, wines and cocktails.
