With a new season of the Great British Bake Off on the horizon, it’s time to grab a rolling pin and get stuck in.
Bake With A Legend matches up groups of bake-crazy Londoners with stars from GBBOs past to learn the finer arts of cake-based craft. The three-hour experience begins with a demonstration from your celebrity dough-whisperer, before pupils try their hand at creating their own bakes. (A glass of prosecco is provided to kickstart proceedings…) Tickets are available here, but read on for what you can expect.
The classes are hosted in modern, high-quality kitchens with all ingredients provided; and yes, there’ll be a box to take your creations home with you. Competitive sorts will be glad to know that a Star Baker is chosen as a bit of fun, although, seeing as everyone present will have created something delicious, the real winner is EVERYONE.
The next classes are with Andrew Smyth on March 21st, where you’ll learn the dark arts of macaroon-making, with Howard Middleton on April 11th, where classic scones and black forest eclairs are the order of the day, and with Glenn Cosby on April 18th, where you’ll be whipping up chocolate and almond praline profiteroles. Expect to hear a few anecdotes from their time inside the tent whilst you’re whipping and fretting over your choux!
Classes with a whole range of GBBO Legends run through to July, and there are only a few places available on each, so you’ll want to book soonish – the perfect gift for the GBBObssessive in your life, perhaps?
