The highly anticipated Friends reunion is finally set to hit our screens this month.
Featuring the original cast, the reunion episode titled Friends: The Reunion will stream on HBO Max later this month and will feature a bevy of celebrities in guest appearances including Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, David Beckham and K-pop band, BTS among others. The episode was set to be filmed over a year ago, but production was repeatedly stalled due to the pandemic.
A teaser video released on social media showed the original cast of Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry walking hand-in-hand across what looks like a studio lot with the iconic music playing in the background. The clip was shared early on May 14 by all six cast members, sending long-time loyalists of the show into a frenzy and swiftly becoming the number 1 trend on Twitter. A second, fuller teaser trailer only upped the anticipation when it arrived yesterday:
The show, revolving around the lives of six 20-somethings living in New York, was hugely popular in the 90s. Although it wrapped up in 2004, thanks to streaming services and loyal fans, it has continued to be one of the most-watched shows on television.
Where can you watch the reunion episode in the UK?
With HBO Max not available in the UK, we’ve had to wait for confirmation on this, but the news is out – Friends: The Reunion will air in the UK on Thursday, May 27 at 8pm, on Sky and NOW TV. That’s the same day it’ll air in the US, although if you’re really keen, you can catch it on demand from 8am that same day. It’s an early start, but hey, good Friends are there for each other…
