Please don’t ask me to explain the science behind this, but we all know that if a venue is plonked on a rooftop, it immediately becomes ten times more appealing to us Londoners. And so it’s pretty darn convenient that the capital isn’t particularly short on sky-high spots to sip, snack, and socialise; with London boasting a rooftop bar offering as impressive as the views that you’ll find at the top of them. But if it’s the largest rooftop venue that you’re after, folks, then please allow us to point you in the direction of south London. Because this is where – come May – you’ll find a rather hefty open-air spot in the form of Freight Brixton.
Now the name Freight may sound familiar to you. And that’s because Freight Brixton is landing in the capital courtesy of the team behind the award-winning Freight Island in Manchester. We Londoners have had to watch on begrudgingly for years as our pals up in the north have enjoyed this outrageously cool venue. But now, our prayers sulks have been answered, and the capital city is mere moments away from getting a Freight of its own.

Freight Brixton
Freight Brixton will land in London on May 7, snapping up the title of London’s largest rooftop venue as it does. Set to become a hub for food, drink, and entertainment; the humongous open-air spot will have a capacity of over 1000, and will be bursting at the seams with fun.
Freight Brixton will offer a jam-backed programme of events, featuring live music, DJ sets, kitchen takeovers, night markets, sports screenings, and even family-friendly activities. It’s set to be home to specialty bars and some rather delicious food, too, with a whole-host of unique brunches already in the pipeline. The first few months worth of happenings have already been announced, and visitors can expect to experience the likes of a music set from David Rodigan (the original reggae selector), a disco set from Dimitri From Paris, a ‘Soul Of The South’ event every Thursday, and a series of food festivals.
Freight Brixton will be perched adjacent to Brixton Village Market, just a stone’s throw from Brixton Station.
Freight Brixton will be swinging open its doors of May 7. Find out more and plan your visit here.
