Have you been dreaming about your next tattoo but just been too busy “saving up the cash” to ever get around to it?
Well you’re in luck because, thanks to a pop-up parlour heading our way this weekend, tattoos are on the house.
Silje Hagland (@sillysilje) from Scapegoat Tattoo in Portland will be coming to Shoreditch this weekend to decorate the bodies of those who dare. And worry not, it’s no amateur handling the needle: Silje has over 15 years’ experience in tattoo design and creation. (She also uses a soy-based vegan ink instead of animal products, so bonus points for that.)
So what’s the catch? Ah, you’re a clever bunch. It’s never that simple, is it? The only small snag is that you have to choose from just six designs, all of which have been inspired by the colourful nature and landscapes of Portland. Fortunately, they’re all pretty nice – you’ll just have a bit of explaining to do when someone asks you the inevitable question, “So, what’s the meaning behind your tattoo?”, to which you’ll reply, “It was free, mate. Don’t @ me.”
It’s all part of a pop-up curated by Travel Portland, bringing the creative nature of the city to east London. It’s currently taking place at Unit 8 on Dray Walk, but the inking will only be happening between 12–6pm on 28th and 29th April. It’s walk-ins only, so we advise getting down early to avoid disappointment.
Location: Unit 8, Dray Walk, E1 6NJ
Opening hours: 12-6pm, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th April.
Price: Do we need to say it again? They’re free!!
