If, like myself, you’re a one-coffee-per-day kind of person and will only have it in the morning in fear of not sleeping, you might want to delay your start time slightly today (August 15). That’s because from 11am, you can claim a free iced coffee in London, with no catch!
Stroll over to Observation Point at the South Bank in the morning, and you’ll happen across a cherry blossom-decorated coffee truck belonging to Japanese coffee blenders Ueshima Coffee Company, which is stopping off for one day only to give away 1,000 freebies. It comes in celebration of their new canned Iced Lattes and Iced Matcha Latte, and you can sip away in style, safe in the knowledge it didn’t put a dent in your monthly budget.
Once you’ve grabbed your free iced coffee or iced matcha you can pick up another free bespoke item. These come from Japanese calligrapher Kashuu, who will be there from 12-3pm honouring International Calligraphy Day to offer passersby a beautiful gift to take with them along the walk down the riverside. There will be 200 of these free items to give away from Kashuu, so be sure to head down with enough time to spare!
You can also pick up a hot coffee afterwards (though these won’t be free) if the first iced number didn’t hit your caffeine fix quite enough. They’ll even be serving up an Ueshima Espresso Martini in the afternoon to kick off the weekend (Thursday is basically the weekend, right) in style.
Ueshima Coffee Company are giving away free coffees at Observation Point at the Southbank from 11am on Thursday, August 15. There are 1,000 free cans to give away, and 200 bespoke calligraphy items made by Kashuu from 12-3pm.
