Ah, Mondays. Bad at the best of times but, as you’ll probably be aware, a very gloomy one has its own name at the start of every year. We are, of course, speaking of “Blue Monday”.
This posits the theory that today, apparently, is the most depressing day of the year. So, we’d should buck the trend and do something nice to fix that, shouldn’t we?
We’d suggest hot chocolate either way, but this goes a step further. Free hot chocolate.
Head down to Observation Point at the Southbank between 12pm-4:30pm today to grab yourself a dairy-free hot chocolate, courtesy of MIGHTY. The plant-based drinks brand are opening up a dairy-free hot chocolate dispenser by the river, which is the first of its kind.
On this chilly day in the middle of January, a hot chocolate on the house sounds like just the tonic. On the stylish dispenser you’ll find plenty of quotes, such as “Motivational quotes won’t help. Hot Chocolate will”; “I just want to have abs(olutely all the hot chocolate)”; and “You got this, even if you don’t know what this is.”
Many have speculated the validity of this so-called “Blue Monday”, but there’s no doubt that it’s a difficult part of the year for many of us to navigate. According to health experts BUPA, 3 in 100 people in the UK are affected by Seasonal Affective Disorder, due to the cold and dark weather we experience at this time. Even if today is just like any other Monday, a hot chocolate is sure to give you a pick-me-up, however small it may be.
Tom Watkins, MIGHTY co-founder, said: “We are really excited to bring our MIGHTY Machine down to London to offer a delicious plant-based pick me up on January’s bleakest day. Our new M.LKOLOGY range is so like dairy that even the biggest sceptics will be fooled, if you don’t believe us, why don’t you come down and try it for yourself?’”
