Only thing better than a fish supper is a free fish supper.
To say we’re a nation that loves fish and chips would be the understatement to end them all, so there’s no reason for us to patronise and tell you why you should want a free portion of the good stuff – that part’s obvious. We’ll just tell you the important part: how.
Over in Victoria this Friday (September 24), a pop-up fish and chip van (just music to our ears, really) is providing 300 free servings of the holy cuisine.
From 11am, Green Flag breakdown cover company are turning unlikely providers of one of the nation’s favourite dishes to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Funnily enough, their business kicked into action above a fish and chip shop half a century ago. They’ll be collaborating with the mobile van, The Frying Squad, to give Londoners all those delicious portions.
This comes after Green Flag’s research found that fish and chips is, in fact, the most British dish (with 3 in 5 voting this way), seeing of stiff competition from the full English breakfast and the Sunday roast.
So, head down to Cardinal Place (Victoria Street, SW1E 5JD) in Victoria on Friday to taste some seaside-style fish and chips, with the first 300 portions sold on the house.
