Frozen negronis and rooftop views: I think Forza Wine has us millennials all figured out…
When it comes to Peckham-based rooftop drinking spots, few dare challenge the unquestioned dominance of Frank’s Cafe. Still, it’s always good to keep the champion on their toes, and if you’ve got a trick like frozen negronis up your sleeve, you might just triumph. Say hello to Forza Wine, who will be rocking up in Peckham at summer’s end, with a prime spot overlooking Rye Lane.
It’s an offshoot of beloved Italian spot Forza Win, for whom Forza Wine is cheekily billed as the ‘taller sibling’, courtesy of their rooftop location. Beyond the name and location, not a huge amount is known about the new offering, though we strongly suspect the top-notch food from the original will make the short hop across SE15. Expect echoes of dishes such as wild boar sausage rigatoni, grilled sea bass and panzanella, and nectarine, thyme, and frangipane tart – which all sound absolutely drool-worthy.
Mind you, we already know the most important reason to head along. Taking the bitter beauty of the negroni and essentially turning it into a grown-up slushie is exactly the kind of forward thinking that summer 2019 needed. Plus, with Campari-loving Frank’s almost literally a stone’s throw away, the appearance of Forza Wine instantly makes Peckham the go-to spot for negroni crawls…
Find Forza Wine at 133 Rye Lane, SE15 4ST, from the end of August. Nearest station is Peckham Rye, keep an eye on their website for details.
