Given that the United Kingdom has just been announced as the second-most unhappy nation in the world, you could very much say that yes, we do fit the bill of ‘happiness seekers’. And so given perpetually happy nation Finland are looking for people who fit that bill to stay there for free, you’d think that many of us will be volunteering at very rapid rate.
Yes, the Nordic nation which has taken the prize for world’s happiest nation in the UN rankings for the last six years is offering you a free slice of the action.
Visit Finland and Helsinki Partners wish to offer a free trip to several lucky people to take part in a happiness extravaganza class for five days; all to learn the ways on how to keep spirits high. It’s led by the ‘Helsinki Happiness Hackers’–what a name, I’d follow them anywhere–and the whole trip, including flights there and back, is completely free of charge.
You’ll fly to Finland on June 9 this summer before taking the Helsinki Happiness Hackers in-person course for five days. You’ll meet up with the team and take part in activities including wild swimming and walking around the stunning surrounding areas in the city, taking to the woodlands and stretching those legs.
Everyone who applies is asked to only represent themselves and not brands, as well as being comfortable being filmed and sharing experiences with others. The application process involves taking part in a social media challenge on Instagram or TikTok, and you can find all the details at the Helsinki Happiness Hackers website. Applications close on April 4, and those who are successful in securing a free happiness holiday will be notified on May 2.
Right now, it’s around -3°C in Helsinki, but it should be hitting the 20°C mark and there will hopefully be some happiness-inducing sunshine to accompany on your endorphin-boosting trip.
