Somerset House provides a gorgeous backdrop – and that, paired with the cracking film selection, makes Film4 Summer Screen the full package. While you’re there, don’t miss out on a trip to the Somerset House Terrace with San Miguel. Only a short walk from the courtyard, on the river terrace, wander over before the film screenings and throughout the summer.
Here at the Ibiza-inspired river terrace, guests can enjoy a variety of San Miguel beers. There’ll be the core range of beers plus five speciality brews at the Tap Station, exclusive in the UK to Somerset House and inspired by San Miguel’s journey around the world. Also available are San Miguel infused cocktails, as well as Iberian tapas and bespoke monthly specials curated by top London chefs.
Sit back, relax and prepare for a season of new and cult cinema. Film4 Summer Screen opens and closes with UK premieres and this year the series kicks off with a Spanish theme. Opening the festival this year is Pain and Glory, a semi-autobiographical work from Spanish legend Pedro Almodóvar. Starring Antonio Banderas and Penélope Cruz, the film recounts the most important moments in the life of fictional filmmaker Salvador Mallo. Get the full taste of Spain in the city by enjoying a delicious pint of San Miguel Especial and tapas on the Ibiza-inspired terrace beforehand.
Rounding off proceedings this year is Inna De Yard, billed as a “feel-good reggae film” that follows a group of reggae legends banding together to create a new album. Their road to success is paved with happiness, heartbreak, and setbacks, and this film charts it all. Grab a San Miguel to enjoy with your evening of culture.
Tickets to Film4 Summer Screen start from £18. Find them on the Somerset House website – they’re expected to go rapidly though, so be quick!
