Victor Hugo’s epic tale comes alive in stunning surroundings.
Outdoor theatre is a glorious way to while away a summer’s day, but if you feel like The Globe and Regent’s Park Theatre are a little too mainstream, we’ve found something a little more secluded for you (we are Secret London, after all!). A charming secret garden in the heart of the city will put on a production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and we’ve lined up some tickets.
St Paul’s Church may be right in the midst of Covent Garden, but they’ve done a good job of hiding their tranquil garden from the crowds. Rather than let such a lovely space go unused, they’ll host the classic Victor Hugo tale until September 1st, adding delicious drama which transforms this sunny spot into medieval Paris.
Brought to life by Benjamin Polya’s adaptation and the ever-excellent Iris Theatre, the Gothic tale of Esmeralda and Quasimodo will unfold beneath the summer skies. Deft and dramatic, you can expect it to be utterly captivating – just don’t expect it to follow the Disney plot, though…
