Having established themselves a fantastic reputation in Brighton and Hove, BoxPark Croydon and BoxPark Shoreditch – beloved pizza joint Fatto A Mano have now found a new and thriving hub in the capital, just a stone’s throw away from the Eurostar.
With a focus on simple, quality produce and fast and friendly service, the King’s Cross pizzeria offers a crowd-pleasing menu of 12 different pizzas, six beers on tap and some mouthwatering sides – including Campania fries, Sicilian olives, buffalo bocconcini and tasty fennel tarallini.
The menu features classic flavours of pizza – including margherita, diavola and the Neapolitan favourite, salsiccia e friarielli – alongside a range with modern toppings, vegan and gluten-free options and a monthly pizza special too. This author tried the ham and truffle and the fried aubergine and smoked ricotta and, it has to be said, enjoyed every single bite. In fact, I’d argue that this is quite possibly the best pizza you’ll find anywhere in the capital – and that’s saying something given the range of competition.
Perhaps it has something to do with the preparation of the dough, which is freshly-made every day and proved for at least 24 hours pre-cooking. The ingredients too have all been carefully selected from a handful of small suppliers, including the mozzarella – which is sourced from a local, family-run business in Campania, Italy and who Fatto A Mano have used since first opening their doors back in 2015.
Of course, another selling point to this affordable and new King’s Cross spot is the beer, which are all sold in ⅔ pints, cans and bottles. Craft beers on tap include the Fatto bionda pilsner – brewed by Harbour Brewing Co. of Cornwall – and the Joosy Hazy Pale from fellow Brightonians, UnBarred. They’ve also got some crowd pleasing aperitivos, such as negronis and aperol spritzes too.
Plus, they also do takeaways, so if the sun’s shining and the cinema is playing by the canal at Coal Drops Yard this Summer, then you can gorge to your heart’s content and get a tan while you’re at it. Perfect date spot perhaps?
