Bringing The Crown to life through a journey across London and beyond, Evan Evans’ private tours are nothing short of regal.
Are you on the edge of your seat waiting for season three of The Crown? We’re all eager to hear a release date but, frankly, the anticipation is unbearable. So why not hop in a fancy car with your own private chauffeur, and visit some of the shooting locations from the award-winning series? You know, to fill the void?
As excitement bubbles for the on-screen arrival of Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip and Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Evan Evans have been busy curating two luxurious tours that are fit for a queen. The first, a tour around London locations, and the second, an adventure further afield to other UK filming spots.
The London edition is a five hour tour that takes you around London-based locations that feature in the Netflix series. These include Southwark Cathedral (the backdrop to the scene where King George VI’s funeral was held prior to Elizabeth being crowned Queen) and The Old Royal Naval College (the location for the courtyard at Buckingham Palace). Also Lancaster House, which was actually disguised as Buckingham Palace for much of the series, and The Lyceum Theatre, which was used for the glam gala scene. You’ll be driven around in a swanky Mercedes with your own private tour guide, and picked up/dropped off at a central London location of your choice.
If you’d like to explore locations outside of London, prepare to give up an entire day. You’ll visit Ely Cathedral (where the wedding of Elizabeth and Prince Phillip was recreated), Hatfield House (which provided the set for the Queen Mary’s bedroom and the library at Windsor Castle), and Knebworth House (which featured as the interiors of Balmoral). Again, you’ll be fetched from a central London location in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes – because, hey, you’re worth it.
The tours are, of course, wildly unaffordable – but it’s fun to dream. And if you’d like to take that dream a little further, you can create (ahem, imagine) a bespoke tour with a selection of mega posh motor vehicles, including a Jaguar XF and a selection of vintage cars.
The Crown location tours cost upwards of about £850 for three people so, er, best get saving. Find out more and browse Evan Evans’ other UK tours over on their website.
