Disney’s Hercules first raised its curtains in June 2025, taking the stage at the iconic Theatre Royal Drury Lane in Covent Garden – the oldest theatre in London. Since then, it’s been dazzling theatre-goers with its energy and playfulness, as well as its spectacular set design. Disney’s Hercules has been delighting audiences on screens since 1997, so it’s no surprise that there’s unanimous excitement about the musical being in the West End.

The cast and creative team behind Disney’s Hercules
Based on the classic Disney film set in Ancient Greece, the story has been adapted for stage by award winning Robert Horn and ex-Artistic Director of the Young Vic, Kwame Kwei-Armah.
Luke Brady of Prince of Egypt Musical fame shines as Hercules, and Mae Ann Jorolan has reprised her role as Meg off the back of the show’s Hamburg production. Stephen Carlile plays antagonist, Hades, while Hercules’ grumpy satyr, Phil, is played by Trevor Dion Nicholas.
The highly-praised Muses are played by Candace Furbert (Thalia), Sharlene Hector (Clio), Brianna Ogunbawo (Melpomene), Malinda Parris (Calliope), and Robyn Rose-Li (Terpsichore).
The show’s epic soundtrack, which includes belters like “Go the Distance” and “Zero to Hero”, has been whipped up by dream team, Alan Menken and David Zippel – the same award-winning composer and lyricist duo from the original 1997 film. Between them they’ve worked on more Disney movies than I can count, with Menken’s repertoire alone including the likes of The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Tangled, and so many more.
Direction and choreography is by Tony-winner Casey Nicholaw—who is also behind Book of Mormon and Aladdin, amongst others—and co-choreographed by Tanisha Scott, whose clientele includes icons such as Beyoncé and Lizzo.
