Detour Discotheque are known for throwing parties in the most eye-catching of locations, from Icelandic fjords to Swiss Mountaintops to UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Where next? London. Over at the always-opulent Somerset House, they’ve picked out their next stunner of a location to party with a view of the River Thames.
Demand has already been huge, so they’ve gone ahead and added an extra night, with events now taking place on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25. You’ll be able to head over to the Riverside Terrace from 5pm for some evening light over the Thames, with a view of the sunset as you dance.
There’s room for 500 revellers to huddle in and pretend like they’re at a 70s NYC disco for the evening, watching the sunset down below the city with a glimpse of the River Thames in the background. Expect tunes from the likes of Chic, Donna Summer, Sylvester and many more to be spinning out until around 2am, ample time to enjoy one of the more unique pop-up parties you’ll find this summer.
Expect to see mirrorballs and dancers wherever you look in a space that takes inspiration from New York’s The Loft, Paradise Garage, and Studio 54. And if you need a break from strutting on the floor, you can grab some tacos or a pizza alongside a spritz and/or a beer to give you extra fuel for the moves you’ll be pulling out after the clocks strike midnight.
Speaking on the event, founder Jonny Ensall said: “We’ve been looking for a suitable venue in London for some time – somewhere that reflects how special Detour Discotheque dance floors can be. Everyone knows Somerset House, it’s iconic. This party is going to be about the best of disco history and the best of the London summer.”
Detour Discotheque takes place on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25 at Somerset House. You can view their website for more details and tickets.
