Davies and Brook will be opening in Mayfair this summer.
Well, we already filched Hamilton from our pals across the pond, so why shouldn’t we get another US import? Chefs Daniel Humm and Will Guidara are New York culinary icons, best known for their flagship spot Eleven Madison Park. The owner of three Michelin stars (along with pretty much every food industry award under the sun), the restaurant was voted the best eatery in the world by the World’s 50 Best Awards back in 2017. So naturally, news of their London joint Davies and Brook is a Pretty Big Deal. (See also: all the Michelin-star restaurants in London.)
Moving into upmarket Mayfair hotel Claridge’s this summer, it’s a return of sorts for Swiss-born Humm, who worked at Claridge’s early in his career. Details are still emerging, but Eater has reported that the food will be a multi-course menu, as opposed to the sharing/tasting plates that have been trending throughout London these past couple of years.
In the meantime, a quick peek at Eleven Madison Park’s Instagram account reveals the kind of clean, precise cooking that you can expect to be following Humm and Guidara across the Atlantic.
It all seems like the kind of careful, modern culinary art that Michelin is particularly fond of, so don’t be surprised to see Davies and Brook hoovering up accolades upon opening.
Speaking of which, there’s no concrete date for the restaurant’s bow in the capital, but it’s expected to be sometime this summer. I’d wager there’ll be a steep price point to match the location – but if Davies and Brook hits the heights of Eleven Madison Park, you’ll be paying for the best…
