After the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Turkey and Syria last month (February 6), an estimated 14 million people have been affected. As of March 6, there have been more than 54,200 confirmed fatalities, and a vast number of people across both countries have been left with their homes destroyed and a need for medical care.
While we might be far away here in London, there are ways in which you can help, and this comedy night in London tonight aims to do just night.
Taking place at the Islington Assembly Hall between 7-11pm tonight, this night packed to the brim with comedians is giving all proceeds to the Turkey-Syria earthquake appeal to provide critical aid for those affected by the natural disaster. With money going towards DEC charities, you can directly the support the race against time to give help where possible.
Announced this week to headline the event is Nish Kumar, who you’ll know from The Mash Report, as well as numerous appearances on comedy shows – from Have I Got News For You to QI – and national tours.
Joining Kumar on the bill is Jamali Maddix of Taskmaster and Never Mind The Buzzcocks fame, as well as Harriet Kemsley, who hosts a podcast called Why Is Harriet Crying? and has appeared on 8 Out Of 10 Cats.
