The only way is up at Clip ‘n’ Climb Chelsea.
If you fancy adding some vertical thrills to your fitness regimen, there’s a fab new spot to do it in south-west London. The family-friendly climbing centre, Clip ‘n’ Climb, now offers special sessions just for grown-ups!
Each of the 21 challenges is equipped with an automatic belay system – basically a gentle pulley system that keeps up with your ascent and then smoothly lowers you to the ground if you lose your grip. So there’s less faffing about, and more climbing to be done!
Designed for all-ages and abilities, there’s less of an emphasis on bicep-burning overhangs, and instead a whole range of colourful ascents to tackle, from twisting towers to perspex walls that let you go head-to-head against a friend. They’ll test your balance, bravery and braun as you race your way into the skies. (Well, up to the ceiling, I suppose.)
Adult-only sessions take place every weekday evening, so you don’t have the awkwardness of getting absolutely shown up by a freakishly strong 11-year-old. Perfect for partners, groups, or simply aspiring Spider-people, it’s a crime not to climb here at least once!
Location: 19 Michael Rd, Fulham, SW6 2ER. Nearest stations: Imperial Wharf or Fulham Broadway.
Opening hours: 11am – 8.45pm weekdays, 10am– 7.45pm weekends; the adults-only sessions are 6pm – 8.30pm, Mon-Fri.
Price: A 90-minute session costs £19.50.
