This hidden gem is the perfect place to visit if you’re ever in need of a pint, a trim and an ox tongue spring roll.
Tucked away on a unassuming street in Clerkenwell, you find the The Gunmakers – a beautiful 19th Century pub that is full of surprises. It all starts with the bar; stocked full of excellent craft beers and cocktails, but far more beautiful than your standard London pub.
You’ll be totally wowed by the Asian-inspired food menu, cooked by newly appointed Head Chef Madison Duffy. She uses wonderful British produce, with a bold Asian twist. Think ox tongue spring rolls with chilli jam and crispy pig ears with nori. It’s certainly different, but that’s what makes it so unforgettable.
At the back of the pub you’ll find a lush garden, full of lovely lanterns and pretty plants – perfect for snuggling up with cosy blankets in the winter, and cooling down with a nice cold pint in the summer (patience, my dears).
And the action doesn’t stop there! Take a walk up the stairs and into the Gun Club, and you could leave with a brand new, and marvellously swish, hairdo. What’s more? This hair studio and barber shop, run by Tim Whiting, comes complete with its very own bar, and you’ll be greeted with a Negroni or a Bananavardier to keep you going through all the pampering (because it’s such hard work, of course). Book an appointment here.
