CIDERFEST takes over Canopy Market next weekend.
Whether it’s a dark, fruity pint in the sun or a mulled, apple number at Christmas – we all love a cheeky cider now and then. And this September, you’ll be able to try a huge selection of ciders, at this years CIDERFEST.
Canopy Market, the weekly independent market in the heart of King’s Cross, is teaming up with The Cider Box, champions of cider, to bring this delicious day of drinking to you. From 27th-29th September, this one-off festival will celebrate the UK’s diverse and ancient cider heritage.
While cider’s popularity has grown in recent years, ‘real’ cider (made from 100%, freshly pressed apple juice) is still a misunderstood magic. Canopy Market is set to put this right, with three days of fun in the sun, celebrating cider!
You can expect a juicy (🍏) line up of the highest quality, independent producers from all over the British Isles: from South Wales to Sussex, and all the way to the West Country. From closer to home, Local Fox, will be showing how they use the capital’s unwanted fruit and turn them into mouthfuls of fruity goodness. Saving the world and satisfying our sweet tooth’s all at the same time!
Once you’ve learned from the experts, and sampled one (or three) ciders along the way, you can give it a go yourself! Master the art of apple-juice making using a traditional apple press, before heading to a food pairing session to discover variety of flavours that craft cider can make when paired with award-winning British cheeses. And all under Canopy Market’s beautifully restored Victorian glass and steel roof. Bliss.
This event will move to the beat of a line-up of live musicians and DJs, providing a well paired soundtrack to a weekend celebrating the eclectic world of all things fermented and fruity.
Canopy Market’s carefully selected artisan food stalls will be on hand to help soak up the cider with cheesy toasties from The Big Melt, pastries and breads from Little Bread Pedlar, British cheeses from Heritage Cheese, and A Pie Party’s indulgent sweet treats.
For those who are not cider lovers – fear not, there will be craft beers on tap and a range of English and rare Georgian wines. Everybody’s happy!
It’s even great opportunity to get some of that Christmas shopping done early; original prints, had-made jewellery and tableware will be available to buy from some amazing emerging designers, such as Esoteric London, Kin and Cloth and Promises Promises.
Gabe Cook, The Ciderologist and leading expert on all things cider, will also be on hand to evangelise with the initiated or convert and inspire the uninitiated. Gabe said: “This is going to be lush! Ten of the finest cider makers in the UK coming together to celebrate the fine fermented apple in the glorious Canopy Market. A diverse selection of craft cider producers, with their brilliantly crafted wares, in Central London for a weekend, what’s not to like?”
CIDERFEST will be free to attend and will take place on from 27 to 29 September at Canopy Market, Kings Cross. The festival times are as follows: Friday: 12.00-20.00, Saturday: 11.00-18.00, Sunday: 11.00-18.00.
