The Hounslow house is ablaze with colour.
Let’s be honest, the words “subtlety” and “Christmas” shouldn’t be seen in the same sentence. That’s especially true for one Hounslow resident, who’s bedecked their home in every Christmas decoration imaginable – and the results, as you can probably guess, are spectacular.
As reported by My London, local resident Nick Yates – filled with festive cheer – has given his home quite the festive glow-up, with yards of lights, various inflatables, and a huge Christmas tree now adorning the exterior. This is made even more impressible by the fact that he lost a leg in a motorcycle accident nineteen years ago, yet still decorates the entire house by himself.
The decorations extend as far as an elves workshop, in which you can see the little helpers making presents, loading the sleigh, and commandeering a train, presumably bound for the North Pole.
It is, quite simply, jaw-dropping to behold – and there’s a brilliant charitable aspect to the visual feast, too. Nick has set up a collection box that’s raising money for Berkshire dog home Binfield Dog Rescue, a family-run business that doesn’t receive any outside funding. You can pop some change in the box if you visit, or else donate to the online fundraiser, which you can find here. You can also follow the house on Instagram and Facebook!
To see it in real life, you’ll need to head to the western reaches of the Piccadilly line: the house can be found at TW14 8DQ, on East Road in Bedfont, a short walk away from Heathrow Terminal 4. This Saturday, December 14, they’ll be hosting a little event and Santa is expected to pop by between 6pm and 8pm.
Head on out to see this wonderful display, and don’t forget to donate!
