Santa has set up shop at the London Transport Museum inviting one and all for a chance to meet the man himself, climb aboard his sleigh, and revel in a range of festive activities. Christmas at the London Transport Museum is packed with a whole host of fun family-friendly festivities this year and the best part? Kids go free!
A magical winter garden can be found hidden inside the London Transport Museum from November 24 2023 to January 4 2024 where all manner of Christmas fun is to be had. Families have the chance to meet Father Christmas and his elves in the winter garden or track him down in the museum gallery for a jolly selfie from November 24 to December 23 at selected times. You’ll be able to climb aboard Santa’s Routemaster inspired sleigh, flash the headlights, ring the bell and set the Christmas cheer-o-meter as you imagine that you’re soaring through the clouds.
Guests will be able to unleash their creativity as they get their hands stuck in the Christmas crafts, which are on during weekends from November 25 to December 17 and daily from December 22 to January 4. Children can find their inner artiste and create their very own pop-up Christmas cards to gift to a loved one this festive season or enjoy Christmassy colouring-in activities inspired by wintery posters from the museum’s collection. Festive story screenings are held in Santa’s cosy hideaway daily where you can watch the story of how the very cleverly named ‘Tf-Elves’ help to deliver Santa’s presents.
If that isn’t enough to get you in the Christmas mood, there’ll also be an immersive digital story trail where families can make their way through the museum’s galleries around iconic heritage buses and trains where along the way, you’ll be on a quest to help a lost elf find its way back to back to Santa’s sleigh. From early December the museum will display a collection of stunning vintage posters that celebrate winter in London.
If you find yourself feeling peckish the canteen will be stocked up with Christmas treats such as brown butter, cranberry and white chocolate cookies, Christmas slices, and toffee apple blondies that go down a treat with their apple crumble latte or winter-spiced hot chocolate for a much needed festive refuel after a fun-filled day of activities.
Kids aged under 17 and under go free, whilst adult tickets are £24 and include free entry return for an entire year. For more information about booking, timings and days that certain activities are on head to London Transport Museum’s official website here.
