A new pop-up in Hackney has just been opened by Dominican rum brand Brugal with a dynamic neighbourhood café bar that gives back to the community. The café bar will be on from today, October 20 until October 29 and here’s what to expect.
Found just off of Columbia Road Flower Market, the vision for the space was for it to be a place where friends can connect and take a moment over Brugal-inspired collaborations with local masters of their crafts; Earl of East, Lily Vanilli, Lucocoa and cocktail bar Three Sheets. The pop-up celebrates Brugal’s very first limited edition series Colección Visionaria which guests will be able to indulge in at the café bar all culminating in a closing party on Sunday October 29, hosted by Spiritland.
Casa Brugal hopes to give back to the community as all proceeds will be generously donated to local charity FoodCycle which provides community meals in order to help fight food poverty, food waste and loneliness. Every week FoodCycle provides warm delicious meals and great conversation to those who need it, connecting communities in the UK.
By day
During the day, guests are invited to try Casa Brugal’s own Dominican warm coffee blend along with Brugal-inspired cake by its Columbia Road Flower Market neighbour Lily Vanilli. Workshops are also run in collaboration with local makers, these include Candle Making with Earl of East or The Art of Cacao with Lucocoa, both of which include rum tastings where guests will be able to sample premium rums as well as indulge in a welcome cocktail. They can also learn about Brugal rum’s 135 years of rum mastery and the family history through the Cabinet of Curiosities. Stunning glassware, cocktail ingredients and bespoke ‘1888’ candles created by Earl of East, inspired by the heavenly scents of rum, will be available for guests to purchase and take home with them to bring the Casa Brugal vibes to their own casa.
By night
With the arrival of the evening, Casa Brugal transforms from a neighbourhood café to a vibrant cocktail bar playing through its vinyl collection into the night. The drinks menu features guest cocktail creations from Three Sheets alongside Brugal cocktails such as a Maestro’s Welcome, Puerto Plata Highball and 1888 Espresso Martini.
Casa Brugal is open from October 20 to October 29 (closed Monday and Tuesday) from 10am to 11pm and can be found at 326 Hackney Road, E2 7DQ. More info here.
