Cast your mind back to when London was deep in the throes of a heatwave last summer: Canary Wharf offered us the chance to cool down by taking a dip in the open waters of the Thames. Now, they’re switching their attention towards Halloween in a bid to ward off the spirits in their final open swim sesh of 2022.
With the clocks going back this Saturday (October 29), this will provide a rare opportunity to dive into London’s open water after dark and soak in the spooky vibes on Monday, October 31.
Anyone interested in practising their front crawl, butterfly or doggy paddle in the Canary Wharf middle dock, illuminated by the lights of London’s financial district, can book their spot for the Halloween dip. After warming up and drying off, you can indulge in the hot chocolate and sweets on offer, because what would it be without a little trick or treat?
You’ll find the middle dock access area across the pontoon from Humble Grape on Mackenzie Walk, where you’ll also spot huts for changing in. After your swim, you can carry on your evening with one of the many activities Canary Wharf has to offer, including their lovely ice rink which has just opened for the winter.
How do I book to swim at Canary Wharf?
For the final open water swim of the year, you can book your place (although spaces are limited) via the ACTiO app – you can find details on the Canary Wharf website.
