Minutes away from the multi-cuisine stalls of Borough Market, you’ll find BRIX. An all-day dining restaurant with a rambunctious late-night bar, this New York-inspired venue has carved out a spot in London Bridge’s dining scene, bringing gourmet street food, bespoke cocktails and a lively entertainment schedule to Great Gilford Street.
Set across two floors, BRIX boasts a rather industrial-chic look. The main dining hall is the biggest space, where most guest dine, then there’s a lounge bar, which can seat up to 30 people. Downstairs, the late-night basement bar awaits. The project is the third from Michael Lythgoe and Cidalia Rodrigues, who have paired with award-winning chef Radek Nitkowski, and DJ-producer Troyboi, to bring BRIX to life.
The team at BRIX credit Manhattan’s Meatpacking District and Brooklyn’s all-day dining scene as their influences for this eatery. Head chef Nitkowski (formerly of Soho House Group) demonstrates this influence very clearly in the menu. Aged meats, reminiscent of NY’s smokehouses, and locally sourced fish make up much of the menu – in unique ways too. Oxtail doughnuts, lobster and chips, and yoghurt marinated lamb are just a few of the small plates and mains available. Vegan visitors can expect just as creative fare too; the hemp and cauliflower burger, served with mango chutney and house pickles, or puffed millet with pomegranate and baby kale will delight the tastebuds.
No matter your savoury dish (or dishes) of choice, you must leave room for dessert. How do a Dime bar cheesecake or gin-infused doughnuts tickle your fancy? The indulgent desserts are a twist on classic Brooklyn finds; a perfect sweet treat to round off your meal. And, when it comes to having a tipple or three, there are various areas in BRIX you can enjoy your drinks. Of course, at your table with your meal, but also in the lounge bar, or downstairs in the basement bar. The drinks available include craft beers, bespoke cocktails and glasses from an extensive wine list.
Between all the drinking and dining at BRIX, the space welcomes the exhibitions, DJ sets, film screenings and revolving street art installations. There are private rooms available to rent out for special occasions too, be it a birthday, album launch or even a wedding reception. So, if you’re looking for a spot to host your next ‘dinner and drinks’ evening, why not check out BRIX?
