England doing well at tournaments gets many across the country in a fantastic mood, but it does come with one conundrum: where the hell am I going to get in to watch it? Tickets for virtually all the big viewing events – Boxpark! Vingegar Yard! Between the Bridges! – have been snapped up, so where is left to watch it and get a brilliant atmosphere going?
A Premier League stadium that’s used to hosting a cauldron of noise every week should do the trick, I would say. Brentford FC are opening up their home at the GTech Community to show the Euros final, with tickets going right now at £10 a pop.
Of course, many a Brentford fan will be hoping that one of their very own players in Ivan Toney gets to see the pitch on Sunday. The striker has started each game on the bench, though he converted a key penalty in style in England’s dramatic shootout against Switzerland in the Quarter Final. Though we might not be able to handle another set of penalties, there are not many better than him ready to step up and deliver from the spot.
Brentford’s capacity is usually 17,250 on matchdays, though it’s not clear how many spaces will be allocated for the screening event. Whether the game goes to penalties or not, it’s sure to be peppered with drama, and a seat at a stadium is surely as good as any to catch it. Will England bring it home (and maybe get a bank holiday?) this Sunday in their second successive Euros final? Let’s see…
England vs Spain play in the final of Euro 2024 at 8pm this Sunday (July 14). You can get your tickets here to the screening at Brentford Gtech Community Stadium (Lionel Road South, TW8 0RU)
