Those partial to dystopian, speculative fiction drama series will be glad to know Season 6 of the Netflix show ‘Black Mirror’ is reaching our screens as soon as this June, as the new trailer came out today (April 26). It announced not only the date of the show but also showcased some of the cast members of the new season.
The trailer is even trippier than expected, with plenty of gory scenes and mysterious plots, leaving us wondering what near-apocalyptic worlds have been invented for the newest season.
So far, the cast members who appeared in the trailer are Zazie Beetz, Aaron Paul, Michael Cera, Salma Hayek, Rob Delaney, and Paapa Essiedu, with more cast members such as Anjana Vasan, Annie Murphy, Auden Thornton and Ben Barnes announced to star in the series.
For those who have not yet seen ‘Black Mirror’, each episode is a standalone story that transports spectators into a bizarrely dystopian world. From robots overtaking humanity to real-life murder video games (I’m still traumatised, by the way), the series is a form of art that just makes you feel all the emotions. After all, art is supposed to make us feel something, and ‘Black Mirror’ creator Charlie Brooker did just that and more.
“I’ve always felt that Black Mirror should feature stories that are entirely distinct from one another, and keep surprising people — and myself — or else what’s the point? It should be a series that can’t be easily defined, and can keep reinventing itself,”, expressed Charlie Brooker.
“Partly as a challenge, and partly to keep things fresh for both me and the viewer, I began this season by deliberately upending some of my own core assumptions about what to expect,” he says.
Basically, we’re to expect the unexpected when it comes to Season 6 of ‘Black Mirror’ – plus, the trailer reflects the unpredictability of each episode so far. We can’t wait to see what Brooker did this time, but in the meantime, let’s just anticipatingly watch the trailer.
