Nearly every year since 1995, the small Yorkshire town of Beverley has transformed into an enormous festive paradise with the Beverley Festival of Christmas, known as the UK’s largest one-day Christmas market.
UK’s largest one-day Christmas market will return this year
After being cancelled in 2024 due to the severe Storm Darragh, the Beverley Festival of Christmas is set to return on Sunday, December 14, 2025, transforming the historic Yorkshire town into a magical Christmas shopper’s wonderland. Now in its 29th year, this flagship event for the East Riding of Yorkshire will feature more than 120 stalls in key town centre locations, including Saturday Market, North Bar Within, Wednesday Market, and Flemingate Shopping Centre, brimming with seasonal gifts, local produce, and festive treats.
The festival promises a dazzling array of festive entertainment for visitors of all ages. Santa and his reindeer will parade through the town centre to officially open the celebrations, joined by comedy acts, live music including traditional brass bands and carol singing, and an adorable troupe of Bernese mountain dogs. Children can enjoy Victorian fairground rides and face painting, while bird lovers will be captivated by live birds of prey displays in Coronation Gardens.
East Yorkshire will play host to the Festival of Christmas

New for 2025 is the Victorian Christmas Market in North Bar’s Georgian Quarter, which will showcase an array of East Yorkshire businesses and local producers. Alongside the market, visitors will find food and drink stalls, festive entertainment, and opportunities to explore the charm of Beverley’s cobbled streets and historic landmarks like St Mary’s Church and Beverley Minster.
Councillor Nick Coultish of East Riding of Yorkshire Council describes the festival as not only a hugely popular annual event attracting visitors from across the UK but also an important boost for local businesses and traders during the festive season. The event runs from 10am to 4pm, with additional Christmas-themed activities planned for the preceding Saturday market on December 13, including a free park and ride service from Beverley Racecourse.
The Beverley Festival of Christmas stands out as a must-visit event for anyone wanting to experience a grand, traditional British Christmas market atmosphere, complete with unique festive entertainment and community spirit in the charming town of Beverley. This return in 2025 promises to rekindle the joyful holiday spirit after the disruption of the previous year, making it a standout highlight in Britain’s winter calendar.
