There’s an arms race going on amongst London’s beer gardens, and unlike your standard arms race, this time everybody wins. Though The Terrace rules the roost from Alexandra Palace, another beer garden behemoth arrived in London last year to welcome drinkers with open arms. It’s called Between The Bridges, and it’s just reopened of for a new 2022 season. You’ll find it in the heart of the South Bank, and here’s what you can expect!
With 4,000 square feet to play with, Between The Bridges has the opportunity to pack loads in – an opportunity they have duly taken.
The name is derived from its location; tucked between Waterloo Bridge and Westminster Bridge, with the beer garden commanding up-close views of the London Eye. The beer garden is split into four areas: the river-facing Garden, where you’ll find two venues.
First up, there’s the newly transformed party palace space The Pier, offering Londoners a chance to sip proseco and enjoy bouncing drag brunches, a Sunday market, and a raucous weekly pop night known as Guilty Pleasures. Nearby, you’ll find The Dock, which has a host of live DJs lined up for the summer.
There’s non-stop entertainment on offer at Between The Bridges, and between April and June collectives such as Bugged Out, Rooty Soundclash, Eve’s Drop are hosting a of the hottest Disco, House and Reggae DJs in town. Expect the likes of Grainger, Lemmy Ashton, Tayo & Frank Tope, Jono Jury, Vanessa Freeman & Sweet P to turn up with plenty more planned on the horizon.
After years away, Rebel Bingo will also be making its long-awaited return at Between The Bridges. Three dates are pencilled in this summer (June 10, 17, 24), and you can book your space at the anthem-filled party here.
Less musical but equally appealing is the street food line-up, featuring a vast lineup of mouthwatering vendors including Born & Raised, BBQ Dept, Cheeky Burger, The Duck Shed, Feed The Village, La Cocinita, Naked Bowls and Oshpaz. Whether it’s slow roasted pulled duck, a gluten and dairy-free Buddha Bowl or an indulgent American hot dog you fancy, it’s a sure bet you’ll find what you’re after at Between The Bridges.
Find it on the South Bank from April 29, SE1 between Westminster & Waterloo Bridges. Nearest station is Waterloo. Read more about Between The Bridges here.
