As a girl who spends a rather substantial amount of her time and money on the UK’s transport network, I like to think of myself as somewhat of a station connoisseur. I’ve got some pretty strong opinions surrounding what makes for a successful station experience (namely a working toilet and a fully-stocked shelf of M&S tinnies), but it’s admittedly tricky to pinpoint exactly which of Britain’s many transport hubs is the very best of all. And so I suppose it’s rather convenient that someone else has done the hard work for me.
The railway-aficionados over at TrainPal have well-and-truly settled the debate for us on this one. The ticket-booking platform scoured every corner of the country to uncover Britain’s best station – analysing 210 stations based on a number of different factors. Station experience, performance and reputation, nearby food and drink options, and surrounding amenities were all taken into account, and they also conducted a consumer research survey for the occasion. Yep, they were pretty darn thorough about it.
Once all of the numbers were thoroughly crunched, they dished out an overall score to each of the transport hubs. And topping the charts with an ‘exceptionally high score’ was a hustly bustly hotspot right here in the capital city.

London Liverpool Street named the best station in the UK
Hot on the heels of being named the busiest station in the UK (for the third year on the trot), London’s legendary Liverpool Street station has been officially be crowned as the best station in the UK. A hub for hotfooting it out of the capital city, the central London terminal earned itself an impressive score of 91.65 out of 100, marginally pipping the second place spot to the post.
Liverpool Street was found to be particularly successful in the food and drink department, obtaining an almost perfect score of 98.20. It also ranked highly in regards to its station experience, earning a score of 96.40. Liverpool Street wasn’t the only London station to earn itself a comfy and oh-so coveted spot in the top ten. In fact, four of the top ten terminals are here in London – with Victoria, Charing Cross, and King’s Cross all making the cut.
