From what I’ve heard, becoming a parent (and preparing for parenthood) comes with quite a lot to think about. But one item can now be ticked off from that ever-lengthening to-do list of yours. Because if you happened to be wondering where in the world is the best spot to actually raise your family; the lovely lot over at Compare the Market AU have done the hard work for you.
The comparison-connoisseurs have rummaged through a whole load of family-friendly facts and figures to uncover the world’s best cities to raise a family. And despite many of you probably assuming that London wouldn’t even get a look in, our big, bright, and oh-so brilliant capital city managed to earn itself a place on the podium.

Nine factors were taken into account when curating the recently-released report: city safety, World Happiness Score, the number of things to do with children, national family benefits spending, national statutory parental leave, monthly cost of living, national education spending, child vaccination rates, and the amount of green space. Once the numbers were crunched, Compare the Market AU was able to give each city an overall index score and create a handy list of the 50 best cities in the world to raise a family.
London has been named the world’s second best city to raise a family
London nabbed the second place on the list, with an overall score of 5.992 out of ten. London was beaten only by Brisbane (with a score of 6.457). London was praised for its extensive range of kid-friendly activities, its relatively generous statutory parental leave offering, and its abundance of glorious green spaces. London didn’t score quite so highly in the cost of living and safety departments, but it still managed to be named the 2nd best city in the world to raise a family so we can’t really complain, can we?
