Running is a fantastic way to keep fit – there’s no doubt about that. But in a city where there’s so much to see and do, it also offers a great opportunity to explore new spots. So we’ve partnered with Nike, in celebration of the new Nike Vomero 18 running shoe, to bring you running routes that will help you to make the most of your time on the move. *Enter East London’s exceptional bakeries*.
The Nike Vomero 18 combines a 46mm heel and advanced cushioning to give you a smooth, comfortable ride from heel to toe. The extra height in the heel helps absorb impact, reducing stress on your joints, while the lightweight build keeps you nimble. Whether you’re pushing for a new 5K PB or building endurance for your first marathon, these features work together to keep you supported, and focused on your run—so you can keep chasing bigger goals. Get your pair in the brand new summer colours from April 17 and prepare to smash your PB!

📍Rinkoff Bakery, Whitechapel
From Eastern Europe to East London, Rinkoff’s family recipes have stood the test of time and travel. Three generations of Rinkoffs work in this beloved bakery, which was first established in 1911.
🍩 Our recommendation: the crodough, a croissant-donut hybrid that comes in a number of irresistible flavours: creamy custard, nutella, salted caramel & pistachio, and more!
📍Forno, Cambridge Heath
Freshly baked treats with an Italian twist is what you’ll find at this trendy East London bakery – think focaccia pizzas, pistachio croissants and their spin on the maritozzo, a traditional Roman pastry.
🧁 Our recommendation: the maritozzo: a soft, subtly sweet brioche-style bun, stuffed to the brim with whipped cream – heaven!
📍Pophams, London Fields
This artisanal bakery has won the hearts of Londoners with its innovative spin on traditional viennoiserie baking – and their picture perfect pastries taste even better than they look.
🥐 Our recommendation: the almond croissant – wonderfully hefty due to its generous frangipane filling, topped with plenty of toasted almonds to create a crunch that contrasts perfectly with the light flaky dough.
📍 The Spence Bakery, Stoke Newington
Located on the bustling Church Street, The Spence is a go-to for anyone in the Stoke Newington area craving a delicious sweet or savoury treat.
🥖 Our recommendation: their perfectly chewy sourdough with a wonderful crispy crust.
📍The Dusty Knuckle, Dalston
There is genuinely no better way to end a weekend run than with a visit to The Dusty Knuckle, a relatively new but firmly established East London institution that more than deserves its cult following.
🥪 Our recommendation: whatever mouthwatering focaccia sandwich specials they happen to have on offer – or if you’re stopping by early, it’s a morning bun all the way!
Whether you decide to visit all of these spots in one big bakery marathon, or to spread them out over a couple of shorter runs, you’ll be in ultimate comfort every step of the way with Nike Vomero 18. Want more inspo? Check out our Nike Vomero guide to ten scenic London running routes.
