A Massive Bavarian Beer Hall Will Pop Up In Camden This Christmas

Alex Landon Alex Landon - Editor

Bavarian Winter Beer Fest

Say “prost!” to a very merry Christmas indeed

2020’s lockdowns have eaten up so many public holidays already that I’ve half considered combining them to give them their day in the sun. But whilst my dreams of a Halloween bank holiday never came to fruition, we’re going to be able to celebrate both Christmas and Oktoberfest at the same time, with the arrival of Camden’s Bavarian Winter Beer Fest. Promising beers, bratwurst, and brass bands, it’s here to put a little Oompah into your Christmas from December 4, and you can pick up some entry tickets here.

Bavarian Winter Beer Fest

Oktoberfest, with its friendly atmosphere and Bavarian carousing, was one event that suffered badly at the hands of the pandemic, and the necessary social distancing that included. Whilst that distance is very much still the order of the day as we approach the festive season, the magic of Christmas cures all ills, which means the time is ripe for the return of the beer festival. As the autumn leaves turn to snow (just pretend we’re actually in Bavaria for this bit, OK?), so has this Oktoberfest taken on a wintry new look, with festive snowy décor filling Camden’s Electric Ballroom.

Bavarian Winter Beer Fest

All the usual Oktoberfest trappings are here; the Bavarian Winter Beer Fest brings UK craft ales, Bavarian street food, and live brass bands to town for a jolly old knees-up. Since all the beers on offer have been produced by independent UK breweries, it’s also an excellent way to support smaller businesses who’ve seen their revenue drop as a result of the pandemic. If beer isn’t your thing, mulled wine will be on hand to provide a little winter warmth on those chilly December days.

Bavarian Winter Beer Fest

The Bavarian Winter Beer Fest will launch on Friday, December 4, and bring the Germanic flair all the way through until the end of February, so there’s plenty of time to raise a stein to the merciful end of 2020!
