Sports fans (players and spectators alike) – listen up! The Battersea Games has made a grand return to Battersea Power Station for the summer, bringing you over two months of free games and activities, as well as epic big-screen viewings of Wimbledon, the Olympics, the Paralympics and other major sporting events. Running at this iconic Grade II* listed building until September 8, The Battersea Games promises to deliver a summer of sports to remember.
As you make your way around the Power Station’s six-acre Park, you’ll find countless activities, suitable for all ages. From a 100 metre running track to outdoor exercise classes, they’ve really got all grounds covered. Plus, giant games such as Chess and Connect 4 will also be available to play free of charge.
Padel pioneers, Rocket Padel, will also be hosting a pop-up court ahead of opening Central London’s first riverside Padel courts at Battersea Power Station later in the summer.
Anyone hoping to catch live sports action can also do so on the big screen in Power Station Park. Ocean Outdoor are currently presenting the Wimbledon Experience for a second year, showing all of the action until July 14. From July 26 – August 11, the big screen will become part of the Official Team GB Battersea Power Station Fanzone before becoming the Official ParalympicsGB Fanzone from August 28 – September 8 – the ultimate place to watch and show support for your team. You can also catch the England cricket test matches, the Tour de France and evening film screenings courtesy of The Cinema in the Power Station. Now that’s our kind of movie night!
And that’s all before you’ve even set foot inside the Power Station. Take the opportunity to admire views of the historic building whilst racing fellow visitors to the top of the climbing wall in Turbine Hall B. Then why not challenge your friends to table tennis, cycle speed racing, or a fast feet football competition? Or practise your swing on the golf simulator! You could even join Pineapple Dance Studios’ instructor Kwan Chan for breaking classes in Turbine Hall A from July 27. Chan has been teaching for 17 years, and can help you get to grips with all of the fundamental steps, techniques and foundational skills.
Of course, all of this sport-related activity is bound to have you working up a considerable appetite. Luckily when it’s time to grab something to eat and drink, you’ll have a top tier selection of dining options at your disposal, with 50+ restaurants, cafes and bars now open at Battersea Power Station, such as El Pastor, Dishoom, Brindisa Tapas, Roti King, and many more. That’s before we even mention Battersea Power Station’s Arcade Food Hall.
Taking over Grade II* listed The Coaling Jetty on the Thames, food pop-up ArcadeX will offer guests delicious dishes from some of Arcade Food Hall’s best eateries. Expect mouth-watering morsels from South American-inspired grill Solis, LA-style smash burger joint Manna, and Taiwanese kitchen BAO.
