For the final people at the back of the room that hadn’t caught the news of the pinkest film of the year coming back this month, an army of giant Barbie buses have taken to the streets of London.
Promoting the release of Barbie on July 21, the big pink buses have been let loose with a new paint job; spotted riding around the city as the world waits with bated breath for the most heavily-anticipated release of the summer.
Already boasting a cast of Margot Robbie (Barbie), Ryan Gosling (Ken), and directed by Greta Gerwig, changing the London bus from red to pink is just another string the bow of the release. And I’d bet my final dollar that it’ll brighten up any commute around the city.
As you’d expect, the buses have been the subject of plenty of online snaps since they were first spotted, with the 55 and 159 route getting plenty of attention on the TikTok and Instagram reels sphere.
It only leaves us one question: WHEREFORE ART THOU, OPPENHEIMER BUSES? Seriously. The next Christopher Nolan movie is enjoying a tantalising release date clash with Barbie on July 21. Though the moody colours may not be as eye-catching, the excuse of simply plastering Cillian Murphy’s face, however world-weary, on a London bus is surely a tempting prospect…
It’s only fair that both of the dogs in the fight have representation on the roads, but for now, it’s Barbie bus world and we’re just living in it. In the coming weeks, we’ll have to watch this space for any news on the Oppenheimer open tops.
