We’ve had our fair share of tube closures, rail strikes and bus strikes this Summer. But get ready as there are some more planned in the pipeline, including this coming bank holiday weekend. Here’s our guide to bank holiday transport closures over Saturday August 27, Sunday August 28 and Monday August 29:
Are there more bus strikes this weekend?
The main thing that’s closed this weekend in terms of bank holiday transport is the bus service, due to planned bus strikes by London United.
While the majority of the bus network will be operating, there will be disruption on some routes, mostly through west and southwest London, and parts of Surrey.
Here’s the routes that will be affected: 9, 18, 33, 49, 65, 70, 71, 72, 85, 94, 105, 110, 116, 117, 148, 203, 211, 216, 220, 223, 224, 235, 258, 265, 266, 272, 281, 283, 290, 293, 371, 404, 406, 411, 418, 419, 423, 440, 465, 467, 470, 481, C1, E1, E3, H17, H22, H32, H37, H91, H98, K1, K2, K3, K4, K5, S3, N9, N18, N33, N65, N72, N266 and S3.
Services will run as normal on the night of Saturday 27 August until approximately 5 am on Sunday 28 August, and they’ll run as normal from 6am on Tuesday 30 August. Other bus services and other modes of transport in the areas served by these buses are likely to be busier than usual.
Are there tube and overground closures this bank holiday weekend?
There will also be a fair few closures across the London overground this bank holiday weekend too.
There will be a reduced Saturday timetable from Kilburn High Road to Euston between 6.30 am and 7.30 pm, and a reduced Sunday timetable from Kilburn High Road and Euston between 12.15 pm and 9.15 pm.
On August 27 and 28, there will be no service between Hackney Downs and Chingford, and on Monday August 29, there will be no service between Highbury & Islington and Dalston Junction and no westbound service from Stratford to Camden Road.
As usual over the weekends, there will be no Waterloo & City line running, and there will be no service on the Met line between Harrow on the Hill and Chesham (as well as Amersham and Watford too) across the whole weekend.
Is the Elizabeth line running this bank holiday weekend?
The Elizabeth line will be disrupted over the bank holiday weekend – services between Paddington and Abbey Wood will operate on Monday to Saturday only, between 6.30pm and 11pm. There will be no service at all on Sunday August 28.
Are there trams running this bank holiday weekend?
Note that there will be no service on the trams in between Wimbledon, Mitcham and Therapia Lane across the whole weekend.
