If you’re a pizza purist or a believer in proper, traditional, simple Italian food, you might want to look away now. That’s because a recently-opened Peckham pizzeria has launched a new pizza special that’s sure to shock and delight in equal measure. Connie’s Pizza, which merges British flavours with Italian tradition, has launched a limited-time Bangers and Mash Pizza. But you’ll have to act fast to try it, because it’s only available until the end of the month!
The new pizza offering was dropped onto the menu today (February 9) for National Pizza Day, and it will be available throughout February. Officially called the ‘Bangers Bianca‘, the unique menu item smashes together a classic British supper staple with a Bianco pizza for something that “shouldn’t work… but it does”.
The Bangers and Mash Pizza
The Connie’s team has described the new pizza offering as “the most British pizza we’ll ever make”. And it’s easy to see why. The crispy pie features a mashed potato base that is topped with British sausage, creamy peas, rich onion gravy, mozzarella, Parmesan, basil and extra-virgin olive oil. Yup, it really is a bangers and mash pizza, with gravy and peas to boot!
Now, it is worth noting that this pizza creation hasn’t just come from nowhere. It was created by Andrea Asciuti, founder of 081 Pizzeria as well as Connie’s Pizza. And the former was named one of the best pizzerias in all of Europe back in 2024. So, suffice it to say, Andrea knows what he’s doing.
In true Italian fashion, there is a lot of respect and consideration for the ingredients – even in a Bangers and Mash Pizza. Part of the driving ethos behind Connie’s is to blend “Italian technique with quintessential British flavours”. Each pizza shines a light on top-notch British ingredients, instead of the team only using imported Italian produce.
