If you’re in the market for a one-night stay that’s packed with personality, look no further than the freshly minted art’otel Hoxton. Tucked in the heart of London’s hip Hoxton neighbourhood, this artsy bolthole serves up a perfect blend of eclectic charm and modern luxury. It’s the type of place where style comes effortlessly, and each corner feels like its own curated exhibit—a night here isn’t just a stay; it’s an experience.
The hotel
Walking into art’otel feels a bit like stepping into a contemporary art gallery. The interiors are bold yet somehow cozy, with statement pieces everywhere you turn. Think colour-blocked walls, quirky sculptures, and a neon-lit bar that’s practically begging for an Instagram post. Check-in was swift and breezy, with the friendly staff setting the tone for a seamless stay. (One of them even pointed out a hidden mural by the elevator, a fun little surprise I wouldn’t have noticed otherwise.)
At the heart of the hotel’s aesthetic and vision is D*Face, a world-renowned urban contemporary artist who has infused his signature style into many of the hotel’s spaces, including a captivating lobby installation that instantly sets the tone for this innovative hotel. With bold, pop-art-inspired pieces, D*Face’s work provides a playful yet sophisticated visual language that runs throughout the hotel, transforming it into a living art exhibit.

The hotel offers 357 art-inspired guest rooms and suites, each offering unique views of the iconic London skyline. Guests can choose from a variety of room types, including 48 luxury suites designed to accommodate families or those seeking extra space. Each suite embodies a vibrant mix of comfort and creativity, providing a unique retreat for travellers. The D*Face Masterpiece Suite boasts an impressive 196m² and features some of the city’s most sought-after 360° views—a true gem for art lovers and those seeking the ultimate London experience.

The hotel has designed its wellness facilities to be as vibrant and inspiring as the rest of the hotel. Guests can relax in the indoor swimming pool, complete with a sauna and steam room, or get active in the gym. The luxury spa offers four treatment rooms and an exceptional range of treatments designed in collaboration with Proverb, a brand known for its vegan, organic, and natural ingredients. My partner and I especially enjoyed the indoor swimming pool and spa area – it was the perfect addition of escape to our weekend, where it really truly felt like we were on holiday. We liked it so much that we went back the next morning just before checkout to have a dip one more time!
The room

Step into the room, and you’re instantly enveloped in an atmosphere that’s as much gallery as it is sanctuary. Every element of the space feels carefully curated, from the artful wall installations to the vibrant colour palette, creating a striking yet comfortable retreat from the city.
The bed is a plush, king-sized masterpiece that combines firm support with a fluffy, cloud-like top layer—perfect for sinking into after a day of exploring East London. Hypoallergenic pillows and high-thread-count linens only add to the indulgent and quiet luxury feel, inviting you to unwind completely. (Not to mention only the best night of sleep I had all week)
Against one wall, a smart TV stands ready with all your streaming favourites, letting you dive into a cozy movie night or catch up on your latest binge. The lighting controls and all the fancy buttons you want to press are intuitive and thoughtfully placed, letting you shift the ambiance from softly lit relaxation to brighter settings ideal for creating the mood.

One of the standout features in the room is a record player paired with a curated selection of vinyl records. This touch brings an unexpected layer of charm to the stay, inviting you to kick back and unwind to the soothing crackle of classic tunes or modern vinyl. The records range from jazz to contemporary beats, adding a unique soundtrack to your Hoxton getaway and letting you set just the right vibe for the evening. As a music lover myself, I can confirm that the selection of records was 10/10.
Saving the best bit for last – the room’s floor-to-ceiling windows showcase breathtaking, panoramic views of London’s skyline. By day, the natural light floods the room, making the vibrant decor feel even more alive. By night, the city lights up, casting a glittering glow across the skyline that you can enjoy right from the comfort of your bed or the cozy lounge chair. It’s a view you really can’t get enough of.
The food

The Brush Grand Café, located on the ground and first floors, is an all-day café, lounge, and cocktail bar serving up European-inspired signature dishes and handcrafted cocktails. This space also boasts an outdoor terrace, ideal for a leisurely alfresco experience in the summer days. As the evening set in, the ambiance shifted into something a bit more special (and romantic)—dimmed lighting, sleek modern furnishings, and the live music.
The dinner menu at The Brush Grand Café features signature European dishes crafted with the finest seasonal ingredients. Each plate is thoughtfully designed, combining traditional flavours with contemporary twists. For starters, we ordered the Beef Tartare, Confit Egg, Sourdough, the Burrata, Heritage Tomato, Basil Oil and the ‘Nduja, Mozzarella, Basil flatbread. It was *chef’s kiss*, no notes. We did wonder if we had maybe ordered too much as we waited for mains with full bellies but in retrospect, no regrets.

For mains, we ordered the Charolais Rib-Eye with Green Peppercorn Sauce, Braised Shallot, Watercress and the Grilled Monkfish Chop with clams which by then meant that we were stuffed and ready to roll back to bed. Portions are equally generous and tasty accompanied by strong boozy cocktails – it was only the greatest set up for the best night’s sleep ever.
Solaya – the newest addition
Perched on the 25th floor of art’otel London Hoxton, Solaya brings a breezy Mediterranean elegance to one of London’s most creative districts. The moment the lift doors open, you’re greeted with warm terracotta tones and vast floor-to-ceiling windows framing a 360° panorama of the city. It feels less like Shoreditch and more like an evening on the Côte d’Azur.
The menu, designed by Michelin-starred chef Kenny Atkinson, is refined yet unfussy – Mediterranean classics elevated with seasonal touches.
A perfect way to begin is with the Solaya Focaccia. Soft, aromatic and still warm from the oven, it’s served simply with olive oil and aged balsamic – nothing complicated, just quality ingredients allowed to shine. Next comes one of the menu’s signatures: the Bluefin Tuna Carpaccio. Thin slices of delicate tuna arrive draped like silk, brightened by red onion, chilli and a mango vinaigrette. It’s refreshing, elegant, and sets the tone for the rest of the meal.
For something comforting, the Gnocchi alla Sorrentina is a standout. Pillowy gnocchi come coated in a roasted cherry tomato sauce, lifted with a dollop of lemon ricotta and fresh basil. It’s indulgent but never heavy – exactly the kind of coastal Italian dish that transports you to sunnier places. The most memorable plate, however, may be the Lamb Parmentier. Rich, fragrant lamb is layered beneath a silky potato crust, accompanied by spiced kale crisps and honey-glazed baby carrots. It’s a beautifully balanced dish – earthy, sweet, and deeply satisfying showing Atkinson’s fine-dining technique in a more relaxed setting.
Solaya is one of those rare restaurants where the setting and the food complement each other perfectly. Whether you’re there for the skyline views, the beautifully executed Mediterranean dishes, or a celebratory evening out, it delivers on all fronts.
If you go, don’t miss the tuna carpaccio and the lamb parmentier – and arrive in time for sunset if you can. It’s one of London’s loveliest new dining experiences with a fantastic view.
The Verdict
art’otel Hoxton is a destination where art, luxury, and culture merge seamlessly. With its unique design, high-end facilities, and immersive art experiences, the hotel offers an inviting blend of style and comfort where it feels more than just a stay. For anyone looking to stay in a space that captures London’s creative spirit while providing all the indulgences of a top-tier hotel, art’otel Hoxton is a perfect choice.
