It’s all been quiet in the land of the Arctic Monkeys of late. No live shows since 2023, with their last new music coming in the form of 2022’s The Car, their seventh studio album. Now, however, it looks like they’re due to release their first material in nearly four years, with a single dropping tomorrow (January 21).
It comes as part of a new record for War Child, which will include songs from multiple artists. The charity shared on Instagram yesterday that a new track from Arctic Monkeys would be featured on the record, and that we’ll hear it tomorrow from 3pm.

In the post to the account War Child Records, War Child said: “Thursday. 3pm GMT. New track from [Arctic Monkeys] and more info about our upcoming project to support children living through war. Sign up to be the first to hear.”
This confirmation followed rumours of a new War Child charity album being in the works, after the charity posted that a group of artists were working on something for the charity. War Child previously released Help in 1995, which featured tracks from Oasis, Blur, Sinéad O’Connor, Portishead, Massive Attack and more. This raised £1.25 million at the time, and more albums, such as War Child Presents Heroes, have followed.

Currently, Arctic Monkeys are the only act confirmed to be part of this project by War Child, with their upcoming song being the first song tied to the War Child Records initiative.
In other important Arctic Monkeys news, their debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, turns 20 this year. There are no rumours of anything to commemorate this, but it’s worth pointing out that out all the same, if only to make a certain segment of readers feel slightly older. I KNOW THERE’S A CERTAIN ROMANCE AROUND HERE.
