From picnics and garden parties to BBQs and brunches, the summer calendar is in full swing, and we’re totally here for it. And in honour of our favourite season, we’ve put together a guide of some of our favourite Amarula cocktails to bring a bit of pizazz to your summer plans – after all, there’s nothing like a showstopping drinks menu to take any social occasion to the next level! These Amarula cocktails are super delicious, simple to make, and guaranteed to get rave reviews all round.
1. Amarula Peri Peri Snapper
Anyone who sees a bloody Mary as a brunch staple will absolutely love this Amarula Peri Peri Snapper. So next time you’re kicking off your weekend with a shakshuka and a catch up with your best mate, why not bring one of these punchy concoctions to the table?. Simply fill a shaker with 40ml Amarula African gin, 15ml Mezcal, 100ml tomato juice, 15ml lemon juice, 6 dashes Peri Peri sauce, and 3 dashes of Worcestershire sauce. Then roll the shaker before pouring over ice in a tall glass and garnishing with a celery stick and olives on a cocktail stick.
2. Amarula Spiced Melon
When date night is on the horizon (be that with mates or a potential love interest), a surefire way to elevate your summer’s evening is with this Amarula Spiced Melon cocktail. Both sweet and spicy in flavour, this one’s guaranteed to get your taste buds tingling. To make it, just add 50 ml of Amarula African Gin, 20ml lime, 15ml Ancho Reyes, and a generous dash of watermelon puree or muddled watermelon to a cocktail shaker. Then add a pinch of salt, shake, and double strain into a coupe. Garnish the rim with chilli flakes if you’re feeling extra fancy!
3. Amarula Tropical Summer Crush
If you’re planning a sunny al fresco celebration of some kind (or you need something to bring to one) then this Tropical Summer Crush cocktail is it. Everything about this mouth watering concoction screams summer, so be sure to bring it out at your next BBQ or garden party. Plus, it’s made in a blender, so it’s the perfect thing to batch prepare if you have lots of guests. Just add 100ml pineapple juice, 15ml vanilla liqueur, 5 mint leaves, 50ml Amarula African gin, and 15ml lemon juice per serving to the blender with 5-6 cubes of ice and blend for 10-15 secs. Serve in a coupe with a pineapple leaf for that final flair.
